Embodied Practice and Somatics

Rest into presence

Through embodied movement, yoga and somatic discovery practices rooted in experiential anatomy, visual imagery of the natural world, and intentional movement, you are able widen your capacity to sense and feel ingrained movement and limiting thought patterns.

In cultivating a highly curious exploration of the body, one learns to rest into presence- to listen to the wisdom of the body and release deep-rooted holding patterns.  As one experiences the art and practice of slowing, softening, blossoming and unfolding – you can access the many layers of holding within the body.

The journey and process of discovery can be deeply transformative, integrating movement, breath, sound, voice, mindfulness, and open awareness to awaken and give voice to the senses within the body. It is from this space that we learn to unwind the nervous system and grow our capacity for deep healing, bringing light to new states of conscious awareness, embodying our fascia, muscles, organs, nerves, and bones.

Engage with the magic and mystery of our human form.

What is somatic practice?

Somatics is an umbrella term for how we experience and live within the space of the body -mind connection that is inextricably intertwined and is always dancing, moving and breathing together. The dialogue and interplay between body and mind is constant, an endless conversation amongst thoughts, emotions, memories, feelings and sensations. The body interprets and holds the 10,000 joys and sorrows, pleasures and pain, balances and imbalances that comprise our human experience.

Somatic practice is a discovery of how the body moves through and into life- whether we are creating a movement container for the body, like feldenkrais, pilates, yoga, qi gong, or we open the field of exploration to its natural unfolding, continuum. We wade, dive and swim the waters of the more subtle, unknown and unconscious currents that stream through and inform the body- mind. When we practice slowly, intentionally with the a curiousity to discover the inner workings and trappings, we are forever changed by what we discover in the journey inward.

Through movement discovery, self touch, and breath , we experience the true essence of ourselves, freedom and liberation, the pathway of healing.
